On Friday, Bar Goren spent the eve of the holiday with his parents, his younger sister, and her partner at the parent's house in the kibbutz. On Saturday, when the first alarms sounded, he was in his apartment and locked himself in the safe room. After a short time, he received from the civil guard security co-ordinator to lock himself in the house, while at the same time, reports of gunshots, burning houses, and injured people began. Bar stayed in the safe room for about 11 hours until soldiers rescued him. During those hours, he could correspond with his sister and brother but not with his parents, with whom he lost contact in the early morning. On Sunday afternoon, the kibbutz residents were evacuated under secure guard. Bar's parents were initially identified as missing and later as kidnapped, but after about ten days, his father's body was located. About two months after 7.10, it became known that Bar's mother, Mia, was also murdered.
