The Full Testimony
Testimony of
Inbal Kaspi
Inbal, an educator by profession and a former Karakal fighter, is the only woman in the civil guards at Kibbutz Magen. On Saturday, she woke up to notifications on her mobile phone. As soon as she received the message in the WhatsApp group, she went to the armory and ran to the security headquarters. While running and fighting, she received news from another team of civil guards that Baruch, Avi, and Nadav had been hit by an RPG and were wounded. For many hours, and most of them without water or enough ammunition, she kept her composure, endured shell fire, and, with her friends, prevented the terrorists from entering the kibbutz.
After the army arrived, she insisted on scanning the farming area to make sure it was free of terrorists. Then she helped her parents evacuate her grandparents and took it upon herself to handle the evacuation of the group of teenagers she had worked with for the past year to the Dead Sea. After several months of working with them, she returned to work at the agricultural farm in Sderot and continued her master's degree in education and leadership. It is important for her to say that she sees her role, both as an educator and a fighting woman, as a mission and a personal example: to show that gender should not be a barrier.
