The Full Testimony
Testimony of
Shachar Butzchak
On Saturday morning, alarms and volleys of gunfire woke Shahar and his family. Shahar realized this was unusual and turned on his phone, which had been off for Shabbat. After reading the warnings and announcements from the civil guar, he took his gun and went out towards the gunfire. On the way, he was joined by a soldier on leave and a security guard. The three joined the fighting and were shot by the terrorists. Shahar was wounded. The soldier was killed. The security guard and an off-duty policeman rescued Shahar, and together, they hid in one of the houses. They called MDA- National Emergency Services for help but received no answer. When Shahar realized that help was not coming, he contacted a friend from United Hatzalah. Together with two other members, they rescued Shahar and brought him to Gilat Junction. From there, he was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in serious condition.
