The Full Testimony
Testimony of
Zohar Hubara
Zohar Hubara and his wife Hadas are the founders of Kibbutz Sufa. Many of their children live there with their families. Zohar is a senior medic at MDA, the National Emergency Services, and an emergency medicine practitioner at the community emergency squad. With the terrorists' invasion, Zohar stood guard outside his house to protect his family while his son Ido joined the standby unit in battle. Later that morning, Zohar learned that his son had been injured. He was called to treat him under fire, but Ido's required evacuation could not be carried out, and he died in his arms. Many hours later, Zohar wordlessly announced the bitter news to his family. Sufa members left at noon on Sunday. After leaving Eilat, the extended family relocated with other kibbutz members to temporary housing in Ramat Gan. They are currently living as refugees, unable to plan for their future. The Sufa community is small, and the loss has had a profound impact on everyone. Zohar feels that, although time continues to move forward, he is uncertain where it will lead. Sufa has always been considered home, but the current conditions of uncertainty make it challenging to decide on their next steps.
