Testimony of
Eyal Dvori
Eyal Dvori, a member of Kibbutz Be'eri, headed the 12th grade cohort at Nofey HaBsor High School. On October 7, he and his family were abroad, following the events from afar, in horror and helplessness. A student from the cohort was murdered, and a teacher was kidnapped. With no kibbutz or school to return to, he established and headed, within three weeks, a high school extension for those evacuated to the Dead Sea area. Since evacuees were dispersed throughout Israel, he had to recruit a new team. Recognizing that both students and staff were severely traumatized, he focused the school's approach on rehabilitation, later balancing it with academics. As his cohort's students were determined to stay together through the end of the school year, a boarding school was opened for them in Ein Gedi, which Eyal headed until their graduation.
