Tal Behir-Gotthilf was staying with her parents in Be'eri after they had had a happy family event. During the terrorist attack on Be'eri, Tal stayed with her parents for 28 hours in their safe room. The hours ticked by, and messages began to run on the kibbutz network about terrorists entering homes, burning, murder, and even kidnappings. Tal realized they should not expect any help to arrive, so she focused on her and her parents' survival. She made sure to say goodbye to her children. She was determined not to fall into captivity at any cost. Even today, Tal says she has lost her sense of personal security. She feels she cannot return to her daily life until all the hostages return home.
