On Friday, Vered Corinne hosted her extended family for a holiday meal at her home in Holit. In the morning, the attack began. Vered, her parents, and her soldier son entered the safe room and stayed there for hours. Her daughter, was staying in the soldiers' room on the kibbutz, and another daughter was under missile attack in Ashkelon. During the day, they lost contact with Avi, her children's' father and the kibbutz's , civil-military (security) coordinator, and they understood that he had been murdered. The terrorists tried to break into her safe room twice, but the reinforced door held. They destroyed everything they could in the house, except for the son's military equipment. During the attack, Vered and her children formed an impromptu war room, directing rescue forces to homes calling for help. Vered wants to return home. It's inconceivable for her to give up her home.
