Testimony of

Yael Malka

Yael Malka, from Sderot, was staying at her mother's home in Shokoda when she heard about the terrorists' infiltration. She heard multiple gunshots, saw the civil-military coordinator running, and tried to understand what was happening. When she called her daughter, who lives in Sderot, she heard that terrorists were shooting on her street and there were casualties. As she was crying and frightened, Yael saw videos on the internet, heard voices coming from nearby Be'eri, and realized she couldn't go home. On Monday, they received permission to leave. She returned to Sderot with armed forces and witnessed vehicles being shot. Clearly, there was no chance for any of the passengers to survive. This experience caused Yael to lose her sense of security, so she left Sderot alone, uncertain when she could return.
